Ostara/Spring Equinox Invocation.

Ouroborus tells us the beginning has no end
Alpha and Omega-all reside within.
Pisces swims beyond the veil,
Aries on the rise.
Mars becomes the focal point,
capturing the prize.
The moon slips through her mansions,
dancing in the signs,
stars are fixed yet active treasures of the mind.
The air is filled with harmony,
Of plant and blood, and bud,
each egg foretells the birthing
of peace, and joy, and love.
Persephone emerges as winter falls away
Mother Earth rejoices-
her daughter’s company to stay.
As days grow long and nights are warm,
the Goddess reigns supreme,
Her power rises in my blood, I command all things unseen.
Magick symbols, knots and cords,
wand and staff and blade,
earth and water, fire and air,
become the Witch’s trade.
I am the ground, the sea, the sky,
the breezes springtime sweet
gods and spirits dance the round,
within this circle meet.
I conjure thee, O leaves of spring,
hyacinth and myrtle,
roses, lilacs, lavender
black earth, warm and fertile.
Gifts of Gaia, Green Man rule
good fortune roots within my world
prosperity is born!

Welcome and Blessed Be, my friends! The Spring Equinox has arrived, time for new beginnings, as Ostara is the time of the new fires, sprouts, and life. Tis the season of fertility and growth, where the light and shadows are in perfect balance and the one day time, in which day and night, are the same length.

This is the break between winter and summer, where new growth occurs, time to sow crops after tilling the land of a harsh winter’s rest. New animals emerge, and the young grow stronger. Here, the Sun God begins his seminal journey across the sky.

Ostara or Eostre, who is the Anglo-Saxon (Or Germanic)goddess of Spring, to which are offered cakes and colored eggs; rabbits, especially white rabbits, are her sacred animal. Sometimes, Ostara is oft believed to take the form of a rabbit.

As with Ostara, there was a custom of giving eggs, which was known to have occured in early Egyptians, Persians, Greeks, Romans, and the Gauls. The Egg represents life, which also stands for the universe around us. Ostara dates back as far, or further, than 3,000 B.C. and as described below, heralds the return of the Goddess Persephone from the clutches of Hades.

Ostara’s planetary ruler, is Mars and the Astrological sign, is Aries.

Besides celebrating Ostara herself, Persephone/Proserpina is another Goddess to celebrate during the Spring Equinox. If you’re familiar with her tale, then you already know she has strong ties to this time. She quite literally left the Underworld to bring Spring to the Earth…

Persephone cherished a close relationship with her mother, Demeter. One was hardly ever without the other. Persephone was famed for her beauty, and Hades had decided to kidnap her and take her to the Underworld. The story changes depending on who’s telling it and some adaptations claim Hades received permission from Zeus, her own father, to kidnap her.

But the story generally goes like this: Persephone was out with friends gathering flowers. The ground split in two and Hades appeared, stealing her in the same heartbeat, before she could make a sound. None of her friends knew what happened.

Demeter was heartbroken, and the Earth suffered a horrible Winter while she searched for her only daughter. In some accounts, she refused to bless the world with her bounty (Demeter is a Goddess of the harvest) until Zeus ordered their daughter to be returned. But Hades wasn’t all that eager to let his beloved bride leave him so quickly. Before she left, he fed her pomegranate seeds, the fruit of the dead.

When Persephone returned from the Underworld, the whole world burst into bloom as if Winter was only a nightmare, and Demeter was overjoyed to have her daughter back. But it was to be a short reunion. Since Persephone ate food of the Underworld, she would be forced to return to Hades eventually. Some say that is why we have seasons.

Purple
Planet Association: Jupiter, Neptune
Astrological Sign(s): Sagittarius, Pisces

Among all of the colors, that we can physically see, purple happens to be this writer’s favorite, along with the cool tones of blue – as they are almost one, in the same. Purple is brought to us, through the mixture of red, and blue – it is exciting, and calming, both at the same time. A joyous color, that once I painted my room, back in my old home with. I do miss that room terribly sometimes, the calming and collective experiences I had with that color.

Purple, especially in candles, can be used to help aid meditation, and enhancing psychic ability, along with having visions and scrying, divination. As a meditative aid, it also helps with finding past-life awakening, astral travel, fortune telling, ancient wisdom. Purple is a good agent for helping also, to remove curses, healing and enthusiasm, idealism, financial affairs, success in business and material wealth.

Power and supremacy, royalty, sovereignty, dignity, ambition, control, command, mastery, and honor, this color is oft used to promote Royalty, and influencing people in powerful positions. It also represents things like judgement and religious thought.

When needing to use a purple candle for psychic power, use it on a Monday, during a full Moon, when the moon is at a strong point. Otherwise, Purple’s energy is best used on Thursday, with amethyst, sugilite, peacock ore, purple kunzite, and purple fluorite.

Pristine and balanced, white is a clear color for healing, and purification; a balance of combination of all colors, white reflects light, and has very little, to no ability to absorb light. To use a white candle, means to invoke the Moon, and her lunar energy. All colors, are derived from white, which represents truth, blessings, purity and chastity. A power energy, for protection against negative energy.

The Goddess’ color, female portion of the God, and the ancient mother, it heals emotions and relieves tension, and helps to aid in meditation. Truth, harmony, and wholeness of the spirit, white candles can provide, along with birth, marriage and welcoming rituals. The symbol of all life, a creative source of all color.

Black
Planet Association: Saturn
Astrological Signs(s): Capricorn, Aquarius

Dark of the Moon, though not dark in thought, Black is a robust color that offers thick energy that absorbs and removes negative spells, and repels black magic. It gives protection against evil, and while a lot of time, black is associated with darker magics, this isn’t the case. In fact, black is quite the opposite – it helps with protection rituals, and might offer a path to a deeper, meditative state.

Cardinal color, of the North, it represents winter and rebirth, destroying bad habits and also is used to unblock energies. Time and change, it can help support healing of deep loss and grief, while healing bad illnesses, and banishing bad magic. It is sophisticated, and while foreboding, can offer a sense of deeper peace, while in meditation; in representation, black represents the Crone, and the unconscious.

Black also is an influencer of self-control over urges, endurance, and patience; be careful however, used wrongly, black is very powerful. It can create chaos, trouble, and confusion, along with terrible, strong hexes and destruction – be careful, when using black candles.

Best used on a waning moon, on a Saturday with the patron planet in a strong place, with jet and obsidian.

Here you have, cardinal colors – and their meanings. I apologize if this took me so long to deliver on and I’ll likely update the post with more information, or add post with other colors later on. However, this took a long time to finish and I wanted to get the post out, so I could move on to different things.

Blessed Be my friends!

Colorful Warmth; Candle Magick.

Colorful Candles and Their Significance.

Every witch or practitioner should know the importance of color, to magical practice and what each color represents. Cultures dating back to Neolithic time periods, have used color in ritual, magick, religion, and every day life to promote health, happiness, success, and prosperity for oneself or others. In example, ancient Egyptian techniques of diagnosing and treating aliments and illnesses, corresponded with colors available in their natural environment.

Color is a form of light vibrational energy, which affects us on various, different levels; subconsciously, we react in knowing, to each different color, already. Soft, cooling colors calm, and soothe anxiety, and stress. While hot colors, like reds and oranges, mean passion and stimulates more active senses. Color, be it candle or your immediate surroundings, is often thought of as a key that fits in a lock, and behind this lock, is a certain place within your mind, the subconscious, that affects your entire being. Color, turns this key and helps formulate the reactions that you feel, towards these certain colors. Each color presents a Planetary Influence, and / or one of the four elements, here on earth; such as Earth, Fire, Air, and Water.

Red however, used in reverse, can be used for revenge, and represents anger, and scorn. If used wrongly in a spell, or incantation, red is harmful, willful, used to incite wars, anarchy, and cruelty. Hence, it being attached to Mars, the God of War.

On a different level though, red is well received in spells, invocations, and incantations that ward of harm, and help protect again psychic attacks, and can be used to bolster self confidence. More Than Just Wicca.

Pantheons; Gods, and Goddess.

Recommended Reading:  Solitary Witch by Silver Ravenwolf.

Today’s post, I’m going to gear a bit differently – as I walk through this journey of learning and understanding Wicca once more, I also find myself learning about other religions as well. Pantheon of Greece, the Celtic Pantheon and Norse or Germanic Pantheons, as well as Egyptian Pantheons. I also took it upon myself to learn more about Christianity and our Goddess, the Great Mother.

All religions come from the belief of a God, or Goddess, or both – many, and singular. Our Goddess, the Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone might have taken shape around the duration of man in the Paleolithic Age (The Paleolithic Age: 5 million, to 10,000 B.C.E), where she was perceived as the life-giver and identified with the power of fornication or procreation; i.e. fertility, sowing of seeds in the land, new growth. She was especially important in the means of gathering food, for our Neolithic cultures.

spiralgoddess
“The Goddess, holding the Moon.”

However there was a shift, a transition from gathering of food, to production of meals, when being fertile and agricultural abundance were extremely vital to growing life of Neolithic community. In archaeological digs, there have been many statuettes of the Mother Goddess found within Neolithic grave sites, that indicate this transition, where she was important to the production of food, more-so, than to the gathering.

I had little understanding in my previous attempts at becoming a witch, or studying Wicca, that we used multiple pantheons, whether it be the Wiccan pantheon, or a pantheon of the caster’s choice (If you don’t know by now, but a pantheon is like a family tree, for Gods and Goddesses). From Silver Ravenwolf’s Ultimate Book of Shadows or Solitary Witch, she names many pantheons that I’ve mentioned above, in the first paragraph of this post. I quote, “Traditional Wiccan groups normally have a single, chosen pantheon used by all members for sabbats, esbats, group workings, initiations, circlecasting, and quarter calls.” – Solitary Witch, pg 31, part 1.

That being said, a witch can work with her own pantheon outside of the circle, when she does her solitary magick. Calling upon two or more pantheons, leads to a muddy mess of misconceptions and wayward Gods and Goddess, that might become angry because the attentions are spread and focused on different omni-present individuals.

How interesting, yes? The more I read, the more I learn – but, I also know and understand that not everyone follows the same words, by law. How do I get my own pantheon? I’m going to wait, suggested to me, to work with just the Lord and Lady, for now. I will await my pantheon to choose me, and build relationships with the pantheon until one finds me worthy, and begins my life-long journey into working with them.

Likely, I will fill another blog post out more, as time goes on and until then, Blessed Be, and have a wonderful day.

Wiccan Winds’ Haul!

Good Day and Blessed Be!

When I was younger, I was taught that Wicca is the worship of Satan and his satanic followers in a place that I believe, doesn’t exist. It was drilled into me constantly, that these things they ritualized and followed, were articles of grief and sin. However, I’ve come to understand whilst growing up, that these things aren’t the truth. So I searched, researched, and taught myself that these people, with the religion that I follow now, are kind souls, with warm hearts and open minds.

I decided, with a little from the return of taxes, that I’d take a small shopping trip down into the downtown area of the place that I live, and to my surprise? I found many new age shops, with open doors and welcoming smiles. It was almost liberating, to feel no oppression, or feel shamed. I am happy with my craft, my friends, and I am happy about myself.

Thankfully, I can say that I love the metaphysical and spiritual discovery that I am under-going.

So, in my shopping yesterday, I can say that I found a few things to dress my new alter with, aside from finding a new and improved alter cloth. There are things now that I am able to mark from my small list of items to purchase.

  • Statue of the Goddess drawing down the moon.
  • Healing stones and Quartz crystals.
  • Sage.
  • Necklace, shaped like my new statue.

The day, was a good, and blessed day, as I hope everyone else had, in all honesty. There is still a lot more, like books and other objects that I need to collect, but slowly and surely. If anyone has suggestions, I’d love to hear them.

Blessed Be! ♥

Moving forward, with Wiccan Winds.

Not did I believe, that I would be so heavily inspired…

To do something of this nature, with my life and moving forward with a choice in religion as I have now, committed myself to this fully. Spurred on by a need to believe in something, but not just anything. I was touched, by a friend, whom has returned me to my beautiful goddess and the way that I wished my life to be, beforehand. In love, and light, we walk forward now, into the curious.

Be brave, and strong, and hearty, but have humility, understanding, and compassion for those around us. I believe we do good, for ourselves and for others – welcome, to the Wiccan Winds. May ye be carried to safe, and warm lands.

So, now that I have that out of the way; I want to say that our discord is fully functioning and that we are up and running as a community. Just admins at the moment, but that’s okay, the ranks will begin to fill out and the discord with soak up knowledge and prosperity between members and guest.

Our goal is not to shove religion down one’s throat, but to inspire, and answer questions, help those that wish to seek knowledge, learn. And, to educate the curious about our ways, and religion. So guest, feel safe and those that wish to seek knowledge and become one of our own? Flourish.
